Shelving for stockrooms
Plan shelving around the boxes and supplies you need to store and retrieve. Compare usable shelf width, depth and spacing with the items themselves. Check per-level and total loads separately, and allow room for assembly, access and any required anchoring.

Buying helpWhat to check before choosing
- Measure stored boxes and compare them with the usable shelf area and clear height between levels.
- Read the load per level and for the whole unit, including any even-distribution requirement.
- Check overall height and depth against the room, leaving access for picking items and cleaning.
- Read the assembly and anchoring instructions and check suitability for the storage environment.
Questions before you choose
Can I place the unit's total rated load on a single shelf?
No. The total rating and the per-shelf rating describe different limits. Follow both, together with the stated load distribution and assembly instructions.
Do outer dimensions show whether my boxes will fit?
Not completely. Uprights and supports can reduce usable width and depth. Compare box dimensions with the clear shelf measurements and confirm missing information before choosing.
